The Father of Modern Marketing, Professor Philip Kotler will be arriving at Dhaka in March with his
team. The World Marketing Summit (WMS) will be held on 28 March 2020 at the Westin Dhaka. It was
founded in 2011 by Philip Kotler. WMS is an independent global organization, headquartered in
Toronto, Canada, committed to “Creating a Better World through Marketing” and thereby alleviating
poverty. WMS aims to improve the state of the world by engaging global leaders and entrepreneurs to
create a poverty-free world through discussion on the most pressing issues faced by the world,
including marketing, business and economics, impacting poverty, health and the environment.
WMS’s marketing and business initiatives include World Marketing Summits and Award Programs in
different cities, an annual marketing journal and online marketing courses and programs.
In a press conference held on 5th February 2020, Prof. Dr. Abu Yousuf Md. Abdullah, Chairman,
Northern University Bangladesh Trust stated that, in the summit that is to take place on 28th March,
global leaders and industry experts will tackle the role of the new concepts of Marketing, which
include, Neuromarketing, Socialpreneurship and Destructive Marketing.
International speakers present at the summit will include, Prof. Philip Kotler, Founder of World
Marketing Summit, Prof. Dr. Marc Oliver Opresnik, Professor of Business Economics, Luebeck
University of Applied Sciences in Germany Professor Luiz Moutinho, world-renowned expert on
Artificial Intelligence for Marketing and Dr. Sadia Kibria, CEO, Kotler Impact Inc.
In addition to the summit, the Kotler Awards are being introduced for the first time in Bangladesh.
Professor Philip Kotler will award the most outstanding Bangladeshi business leaders on this global
platform. If an individual or organization has made significant contribution in the fields of marketing
and management they can apply for the Kotler Awards. 28 awards are to be conferred under four
categories: Lifetime Achievement, Master-class Achievers, Iconic Achiever and Industrial Achievers.
The last date for submission of nominations is 25 February 2020.
It was also stated that the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, the Hon’ble Economic
Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr. Mashiur Rahman, the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Mr. A H M
Mustafa Kamal, the Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Mr. Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and the
Hon’ble Private Sector Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister Mr. Salman Fazlur
Rahman are expected to attend the program as respected guests.
